Product Overview
The HXGN17-12 box-type fixed AC metal-enclosed switchgear (short for RMU) is an AC HV complete electrical device with rated voltage of 12 kV and rated frequency of 50 Hz, mainly used in three-phase AC ring networks, terminal distribution networks and industrial power equipment for receiving and distributing electric energy, and is also suitable for installation in box-type substations.

- Seismic intensity: not exceeding degree 8;
- Places free from obvious pollution by corrosive or combustible gases.

Installation, Storage/Transport & Acceptance
Use & fault handling
Packing, storage & transport
The RMU is packed in a single wooden box when leaving the factory. Tipping over, upside-down placement and violent vibration are not allowed during storage and transport; dragging or pushing directly on the ground is not allowed when moving; without lifting devices, rollers can be placed under the sleepers of the packing box to slide it to the installation position.
Protect the cabinet from rain and moisture.
The RMU shall be placed in a well-ventilated place preventing intrusion of various harmful gases; storing it in the same warehouse with chemicals, acids and alkalis is strictly prohibited.
Acceptance
Check whether the packing is damaged before unpacking, and protect the product when unpacking.
2.2 Inspect the appearance of the cabinet; meanwhile check whether the components in the cabinet are damaged and whether the accessories conform to the packing list.
Check whether the accompanying documents are complete.
- a. Product operating manual and manuals of the components in the cabinet;
- b. Factory test report;
- c. Product certificate;
- d. Packing list;
- e. Secondary wiring diagram.
Installation & commissioning
During installation, first place the RMU on the installation foundation, arrange it neatly and commission it, then fasten it with fasteners.
When installing the main busbar, open the busbar compartment for installation; the contact surfaces of the connecting busbar shall be flat and free of dirt.
The RMU shall be reliably earthed, and the earthing circuit shall be checked.
Commissioning shall follow the RMU operating manual and the manuals of the components in the cabinet.
After installation and commissioning, operate each switching element and the anti-misoperation mechanism 5 times; if no abnormality is found, the mechanical operation of the switch is deemed normal.
Use & fault handling
Checks before energization
Before energization, comprehensively check the electrical performance, insulation level and wiring correctness of all components in the RMU; it may be put into operation only after everything is normal.
Normal operating state
In normal operation, whether incoming or outgoing cabinet, the load switch shall be in the closed position, the earthing switch in the open position, and the cabinet closed and locked.
Fault handling
When the incoming cabinet fails and needs repair, first cut off the incoming power and open the load switch; check the live-line indicator on the cabinet, and after confirming it is correct, close the earthing switch and open the door for maintenance。
When the outgoing cabinet fails and needs repair, first open the load switch in the cabinet, close the earthing switch and open the front door for maintenance; the main busbar is live at this time.
Maintenance & overhaul
The RMU needs maintenance and overhaul under the following conditions;
- a、Inspect the insulation level of the product after 5 years of operation;
- b、After 100 load-switch breaking operations, check the main circuit resistance and the moving, fixed and auxiliary contacts.
Generally, maintain and overhaul the RMU with power off. Regular maintenance and overhaul is an important measure to ensure long-term reliable operation of the HXGN17-12 box-type fixed AC metal-enclosed switchgear。
